Id-diskussjoni dwar dawn ir-regolamenti ilhom sejrin izda ftehiem mar-rapprezentanti tas-sidien tal-hwienet u negozjanti ma ntlahaqx. Zgur li ma kienx hemm ftehim dwar id-data tal-implimentazzjoni. Il-GRTU ipprotestat bil-kbir fil-Konferenza li zamm il-Ministeru tal-Kompetizzjoni u Komunikazzjoni nhar it-Tnejn 30 ta’ Mejju 2005 li dawn ir-regolamenti huma ta’ hsara ghall-konsumaturi l-aktar dawk b’mezzi limitati ghaliex effettivament ser jolqot l-bejgh bin-nifs li hafna hwienet joffru. Sid ta’ hanut b’dawn ir-regolamenti illum jaqbillu jew jgholli l-prezz biex jaghmel tajjeb ghall-ispejjez godda li qed jaghbbuh bihom u jbiegh bin-nifs izda bla imghax jew inkella ma jbiegh xejn bin-nifs u jibghat lil kull min ma jiflahx ihallas kollox mall-ewwel ghand il-Banek Kummercjali. Il-GRTU tqies li din hi sitwazzjoni ingusta li ser twegga lil hafna konsumaturi u li ghalhekk il-gvern ghamel zball li qabad u impona. Il-gvern haqqu l-ewwel studja sew kif jinghata il-kreditu mill-hwienet u mhux qabad u iddecieda skond il-ftit tgergir li semgha.

Dawn ir-regolamenti huma piz gdid li ser ikompli johnoq il-kummerc li diga hu mghaffeg izzejjed. Il-GRTU, din issa dratha. Xi hadd fil-gvern iwahhal wahda f’rasu, ma jimpurtah xejn mill-fatti kif inhuma u mill- konsegwenzi tad-decizjonijiet tieghu u jfajjar, basta tghaddi tieghu. Il-GRTU m’hiex kontra li jkun hemm regolamenti li jghamlu sens, izda dawn li qed ikunu imposti m’humiex. Il-GRTU m’ghandhiex dubju li s-sidien tal-hwienet isibu tarf kif jghixu b’dawn ir-regolamenti strambi. Il-GRTU ser tavza lil tal-hwienet u t-traders x’ghandhom jghamlu biex jevitaw l-inkwiet zejjed impost fuqhom, izda l-konsumatur li ma jiflahx ihallas fil-pront ser isib problemi kbar.
