Meeting the Prime Minister

GRTU Leaders will today Tuesday 27th January 2004 meet the Prime Minister
at 12.00p.m.

GRTU will be presenting to the Prime Minister its
preoccupations on the current situation and the inability of Government to act
decisively on proposals submitted by GRTU to sustain Small Enterprises in Malta.
GRTU stresses that government cannot commit itself to the European Charter for
Small Businesses and than fail to implement serious programs that would relief
small business owners from excessive bureaucracy and fiscal burdens that are
hampering their growth.

GRTU in line with other European organisations
members of UEAPME – The European Federation of National Associations of SME’s,
strongly believes that direct support to small enterprises can in a relatively
short period of time, help relieve
growing unemployment.

GRTU is
presenting the Prime Minister with new proposals that can be implemented
immediately to help relief the growing unemployment situation in
Malta.

GRTU leaders will meet the press on the stairs of Castille soon
after the meeting (expected after 12.30p.m).
