It-Tkattir fil-GDP fl-2007, l-Eurostat u l-GRTU

B'referenza ghal dak li gie ikkwotat fil-media lokali lbierah u illum dwar dak li qalet l-Eurostat fuq ir-rata tat-tkattir tal-Prodott Gross Domestiku (GDP) ta' Malta fl-2007, il-GRTU trid tippreciza li xejn minn dak li intqal mhu risposta ghall-punti li qajjmet l-GRTU wara li gie ippublikat mill-NSO ir-rapport dwar it-tkattir tal-GDP ghat-tielet kwart tas-sena 2007.

 L-Eurostat fit-9 ta' Jannar 2008 (issue 5/2008) kienet qalet li t-tkabbir tal-GDP fit-tielet kwart (Q0307, seasonally adjusted, real GDP) kien 0.1%.  Fl-14 ta' Frar 2008 (issue 21/2008), l-istess Eurostat aggustat l-istess tkattir ghal 4.3%.  L-Ebda spjegazzjoni ma nghatat ghal dan u x'ikkawza il-bidla hekk radikali minn 0.1% ghal 4.3%.

Meta wiehed jara ic-cifri ghall-pajjizi l-ohra kollha, imkien ma jidher tibdil hekk drastiku, tlieta u erbghin darba aktar.  Isir tibdil is-soltu, imma dejjem marginali, mhux b'dawn il-proporzjonijiet.

Il-GRTU tfakkar li meta ikkritikat il-figuri ippublikati mill-NSO u sostniet li l-GDP growth la kien ta' 0.1% (kif kien qal il-Eurostat) u lanqas ta' 4.1% (kif kien qal l-NSO) izda aktar qrib it-2% (1.94%) dan ghamlitu wara li ikkomisjonat studju xjentifiku.

F'dan l-istudju deher bic-car li meta l-NSO uzat deflator negattiv biex ikkalkulat il-Household Final Consumption Expenditure (HFCE) f'termini reali, dan deher li ma kienx gustifikat ghax ma kien hemm l-ebda indikazzjoni la fil-Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) u l-anqas fir-Retail Price Index (RPI) li l-inflazzjoni fit-tielet kwart ta' l-2007, kien negattiv.  Hadd f'Malta ma jemmen li f'nofs l-2007 il-hajja rohsot!

L-effett ta' dak li ipprezentat l-NSO kien li l-GDP ta' Malta deher li kiber bid-doppju ta' dak li, skond l-analizi tal-GRTU fil-fatt gara.

Illum il-GRTU talbet l-Eurostat biex tispjega din id-diskrepanza ga la darba l-Awtorita' tal-Istatistika ta' Malta baqghet ma wegbitx ghal punti li qajmet l-GRTU.  Wiehed jistenna li qabel ma johrog rapport tal-GDP ghal ahhar kwart tas-sena 2007 li hu mistenni ghal ewwel gimgha ta' Marzu, li l-NSO u l-Eurostat ikunu iccaraw il-kwistjoni.
