30 October 2024
The Malta Chamber of SMEs earlier today published the results of the SME Barometer (Q3 2024)...
Id-Direttur
Generali tal-GRTU Vincent Farrugia u l-President tal-Hospitality and Leisure tal-GRTU Philip Fenech kellmu lill-media minn hdejn il-pont ta’ Manwel
Dimech fi Triq Regjonali. Id-Direttur Generali qal li t-titlu ta’ din
il-konferenza stampa kienet:
“Ghaliex
din l-insensittivita?”.
Vince
Farrugia qal “Kif qed taraw il-bicca l-kbira centrali tal-pont in-naha li
taghti lejn il-Wied issa hi mkissra ghal kollox. Xoghol ta’ tkissir illi sar
dan l-ahhar ftit granet. Il-Prim Ministru l-Onorevoli Dr. Gonzi nhar il-Gimgha
minn fuq PBS qal illi ma jistax jaghti data ta’ meta kien ser jitlesta l-pont ghaliex il-Gvern kien ghadu ma
ddecidiex x’ser isir wara li l-GRTU f’isem l-istabbilimenti tad-divertiment,
restoranti u hwienet u shopping archades
tan-nahat ta’ Paceville u San Giljan kienet ghamlet talba, li fl-opinjoni,
tal-Prim Ministru, kienet gustifikata, biex ghall-perjodu tal-festi tal-Milied
jibqghu miftuhin iz-zewg korsiji tal-pont. Jidher bic-car minn dak li qed taraw
li l-Ministru Jesmond Mugliett u l-ADT ma kienux infurmaw l-Prim Ministru
bid-decizjoni taghhom li jkissru t-tieni korsija tal-pont waqt li kienu ghadhom
ghaddejjin it-tahdidiet mal-GRTU.”
Vince
Farrugia spjega li fil-laqgha li saret mal-Ministru Mugliett u mas-Sur Ray
Attard, Chief Executive Officer
tal-ADT gew diskussi l-alternattivi biex ix-xoghol fuq il-pont jitkompla.
Il-GRTU kienet spjegat il-pozizzjoni taghha li la l-Ministru kien esprima ruhu
repetutament li t-tort tad-dewmin m’huwiex tal-Gvern allura ma kienx hemm
kwistjoni biex il-Gvern jordna l-waqfien temporanju tax-xoghol. L-alternattivi
li ssemmew kienu tlieta, il-ftuh ta’ Triq il-Baltiku, it-twettiq tal-progett
tal- Park and Rideluxol minn fejn il- u kontroll ahjar tax-xogholijiet
li jwaqqfu t-traffiku fi triq it-torri. Il-GRTU baqghet illi kellha ssejjah
lis-sidien tal-hwienet u lis-sidien tan-negozji ohra halli jiddeciedu jekk dawn
l-alternattivi mhumiex accettabli u kellha ssir laqgha konklussiva l-Gimgha 30
ta’ Novembru. “Kienet ghalhekk ghal kollox insensittiva biex ma nghidx
arroganti, id-decizjoni tal-Ministru u tal-ADT li jaqbdu u jkissru l-parti
tal-pont li kienet il-qofol tad-diskussjoni mal-GRTU”, qal Vince Farrugia, “Din
mhix attitudni accettabli u hu ghal kollox mod zbaljat kif Gvern jittratta
mal-Korpi ewlenin ta’ pajjizna aktar u aktar meta kien hemm dikjarazzjoni
tal-Prim Ministru li l-affarjiet ser isiru bi ftehim”.
Vince
Farrugia spjega li s-survey fost
in-negozji wera li kien hemm telf qawwi sa tmienja u tletin fil-mija fil- bejgh
tan-negozji l-aktar tal-hwienet. Dan gara waqt li kien qed isir ix-xoghol waqt
l-ewwel korsija. In-nies tan-negozju fdaw f’dak li qal il-Ministru illi
x-xoghol kien ser jitlesta f’Settembru u ghalhekk kienu stokkjaw u nvestew biex
jirrikuperaw it-telf li sofrew fil-Harifa u fil-perjodu tal-festi tal-Milied u
l-ewwel tas-sena. “Il-Gvern ghalhekk naqas bil-kbir li sfida lin-negozjanti
kollha u kull opinjoni pubblika li mis-survey
tal-GRTU deher bic-car li kienu favur li n-negozji jinghataw ic-cans li
jirrekuperaw matul il-festi tal-Milied” qal b’ton iebes is-Sur Vince Farrugia.
