Il- GRTU tibqa’ tinsisti li l-Krizi fit-Turizmu trid rimedju extraordinarju

Il-GRTU ssostni li l-fatti u l-figuri juru li t-turizmu waqa’ fi stat ta’ krizi u li l-mizuri li qed jiehu l-Gvern, inkluzi l-Kumitat li tieghu hu Chairman il-Prim Ministru, mhux qed iwasslu ghal soluzzjoni verament effettiva. Ghalhekk il-GRTU ssostni li la hemm krizi, il-Prim Ministru jrid igorr ir-responsabilta huwa, ghax Ministru, hu min hu, wahdu mhux ser jimponi dawk il-mizuri li jpoggu lil Malta fil-post li jixirqilha f’dan il-qasam. It-telf hu kbir wisq biex jitfejjaq b’mizuri semplici.

Il-GRTU xandret analazi ekonomika xjentifika* u wriet bil-fatti li s-settur tat-turizmu fuq medda ta’ 10 snin tilef il-pozizzjoni tieghu b’14% bhala kontribuzzjoni ghall-ekonomija nazzjonali u li dan is-settur qieghed persistentament jimxi taht ir-ritmu registrat ghall-ekonomija ingenerali. Aghar minn hekk il-“pool” ta’ kumpaniji b’sahhithom f’dan is-settur qieghed dejjem jonqos ghax l-operating surpluses f’dan is-settur huma l-aghar fost is-setturi ekonomici kollha.

It-turizmu Malti nizel bil-kbir thares fejn thares: bhala proporzjon ta’ turisti li jigu fil-Mediterran; bhala rata ta’ tkattir b’paragun mat-tkattir tat-turizmu mondjali; bhala proporzjon ta’ Germanizi, Francizi u Taljani li jsiefru lejn il-Mediterran u bhala proporzjon ta’ turisti miz-zoni tal-EU li jsiefru lejn destinazzjonijiet turistici fl-EU stess. Dan jista’ jaghmlu biss il-Prim Ministru, u mhux Ministru li jrid mill-Ministri l-ohra kollha. X’sahha ghandu l-Ministru tat-Turizmu li jimponi s-soluzzjonijiet meta hu m’ghandux sahha fuq shabu?

Malta m’ghandhiex aktar zmien x’titlef. Sidien tal-intraprizi qed jaqtghu qalbhom. Jekk mhux ser jiehdu fiducja gdida li l-affarijiet verament u bis-serjeta ser jitrangaw ghax il-Prim Ministru wiegeb ghat-talba taghhom u ha kontroll dirett tas-sitwazzjoni, allura nibqghu kif ahna, qiesna dghajsa fil-maltemp u min ghandu jdabbar rasu johrog mill-industrija.

Il-Gvern issa hu mwiddeb. Id-decizjoni f’idejn il-Prim Ministru.
